Just dropped cash on some new parts.Mostly interrior stuff.Did you guys know Larrys mustangs/t-bird parts now carrys the chrome arm rest bases that we need for delux interriors??Did you also know that 71-73 mustang arm rest pads are the same as mav/comet.I have noticed in the past, people looking for good arm rest pads. After some research I discovered that mustang ones are the same as ours.Well for 72 mavs any how.I know the 73 and up are different. Now I just have to wait by the mail box.

The REAR arm rests in some '78 - mid 80's Bronco's are also the same as the '70-'72 arm rests in our cars. There are many other cars that have them too, particularly the rear doors of a lot of late 60's and 70's 4 doors had the same arm rests. For example, this is the rear door of a '69 Mercury Marquis. I have heard they are reproduced. The '73+ arm rests came in all kinds of cars, like Pinto's, Mustang II's, Granada's and Fairmonts all appear to have the same arm rests, even some early Fox Mustangs.. which gives me an idea... :hmmm:

I would love to see some pictures, part numbers, and links if you have them. We had a discussion about this awhile back. I thought the chrome bases were being reproduced....but I could not find them.

    thanks

Yeah I was aware or the later door pull/arm rest set up on the later mav/comet being as you stated. The arm rests for the older ones can be a bit of a hunting trip if you go junk yarding though(hit or miss) for a good one/right color etc...These are brandy new and fairly cheap at 18.95 IMHO.I personally was surprised to see them actually reproduced. These sorts of soft parts are not allways reproduced.

To add to this thread ...

The Grabber/Comet GT armrest and base are longer that the standard 69-72 Mav/Comet.

The standard short base and pad can be found in other Ford cars of the era. The rear seat of a 70-71 Torino 2 door, all four doors on a 75 Torino, and I am sure that I have seen others over the years. Like mentioned above, these bases can be used on either side, and these short pads are not side-specific like the longer ones.

I believe that rear door armrest bases in a four door 73-77 Mav might be unique in that they do not have a provision for a door handle.

I have some short pads and bases for sale in this post if anyone needs any...

Yea, I was just trying to name off a few other applications which may or may not have parts for them reproduced in the future. Or for someone junkyard hunting.

CaptainComet is right about the Torino also, can't believe I forgot that one considering I can see my dad's '71 Torino in the driveway from where I'm sitting.

Jeff, thanks I did not know the grabber/comet ones were longer but my arm rest pads are side specific. That said I am guessing you are referring to the rear door pads not being side specific??Perhaps I should just look at your post.:thumbs2:

The longer chrome bases came with the deluxe interior package. Not all Grabber's had the deluxe interior.

I was referring to standard front pads being non-side-specific.The Grabber armrest pads have an inset molded in that makes for a bit of of a handle. The shorter standard armrests are just "bun-shaped" (no inset), so you can use them on either side interchangeably. I think this was cost-saving as much as anything. These were used on all four doors of 69-72 Mavs and Comets and they were moved to just back doors on later four doors, when the front doors got the nicer-styled door pulls built into the pad.
