Hello everyone. My name is Tim Harbach from Atkins, IA. My son Declan and I are just starting our '71 Grabber-clone project.
I am planning a disc brake upgrade and was wondering if a booster is recommended or not really necessary. I doubt that I'll get to do the Versailles rearend swap since they have become hard to find around here. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Best regards,
    Tim

definatly do the discs and see if you cant find a 5-lug rear from a later mav/comet to throw in as well. the booster really isnt necessary. if you plan on driving it alot it might make the ride a little better but IMO theyre not necessary and clutter the engine bay

good luck with the project. post some pics if you can

I agree, I wouldn't worry about a booster. I have the manual disc on my car and it works great. These cars are light and pretty easy to stop. Good luck with the project and post pics when ya can! (y)

    Thanks for the advice.
I bought two cars from the same guy; a rotted-out '71 Grabber and a pretty decent '71 6-cylinder car to clone. I've got all the 5-bolt stuff from the Grabber, along with the 302 & C-4, to swap over. The 6-cylinder has air, but the brackets are obviously different for the 302. Does anyone know where I can find a set?

a/c is one of those things i consider unnesessary too lol

if you do hook up the a/c your going to have alot of work to do behind the dash board as well getting everything hooked up and swapping in the a/c box.

Yeah, AC probably is unecessary, but I didn't explain myself well. The car I'm going to be using has air already, so the dash and interior parts are all there allong with all the stuff under the hood. However, I'm going to put a 302 in this car and therefore to keep the option I need the V-8 brackets. I will have a running 6-cylinder (200 ci, I think) and automatic tranny to sell if anyone is interested. The car only has 73,000 miles on it.
    Thanks again.
