Well friends ,its been a long time . I thought i would tell you all about the great deal i got on my car trailer. I have a buddy who works for a trailer company ,so i give him a call and ask him if he has a deal on a 18 foot car trailer ,he says 4000.00 new 18 foot tandam or 2000.00 used . I said thanks but NO thanks ,i told him im a poor mans race car guy .Well at 10:30 pm i get a call from him(derrick ) he has been drinking and says hey poor guy , i just might have a deal for you . He explains to me his father who passed away from cancer 2 years ago had a 18 foot tandam axle trailer with 5000 lb axles and electic brakes on both axles in the barn that hasnt turned a wheel in 4 years . He says i dont know what shape its in ,but he said my pops took good care of everything he owned , call my mom and tell her we have been friends for 12 years and ask her how much she wants for it . I call my friends mom Darlene and ask her if she would sell it to me and how much , Darlene (Derricks) mom says have you seen it ,i said no but if the price is right ill take it sight unseen . Darleen explains to me that her husband left here more money than she or her children will ever need and says 400.00 bucks its yours ,well i take it . I go up to there family broiler chicken farm and into one of there many barns and theres this trailer with 4 brand new 12 ply radial tires ,i check the electric brakes and there like brand new,all four ,with a tremclad repaint and three planks replaced it will be new.Im so happy i buy my friend Derrick a 60 pounder of crown royal and he says well lets cellerbrate we drink half of it and my girlfriend Bev has to come get her drunken man home to bed ,telling her over and over about my awsome trailer deal .Im going up to his Farm this weekend to pick it up and ill post a few pics of my great racing trailer find , cheers Jimmy2gates

awesome story... I never have that kind of luck... congrats on the trailer.... I'm gunna get a trailer to haul my Kubota tractor/frontend loader/backhoe, one of these years so I can actually take it to different places and make some money with it.... I tried making a trailer for it out of an old Pop-up camper chasis that my grandfather gave me and he swore that it would be strong enought to carry the weight of my Kubota, well I was leary but I respect my elders and took his word for it and built the chasis up with planks and bolts, and when I drove the Kubota up on it, the weight flattened the leaf springs flat and dang near busted the axle up.

The tongue of the chasis has GVW of 5000 pounds stamped right in the metal and the Kubota I have with everything on it only weighs a little less than 3000 pound but I guess the frame is rated for a bit more than the springs and the axle hahahaha.......
