Ok so i have an Efi engine and T5 out of a 91 stang on my mav.. now what cable should i buy that will fit the T5 and the speedometer? i know some people have the t5 in their cars so please help me buy the right cable
The Original cable also fits the T-5. The Gears however may need to be changed to match the rotation and gear ratio. Ford used the same speedo cable ends and gears from the late 50's (guessing here) to the end of mechanical speedos.
I thought even the manual EFI cars used the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) to set fuel parametors. If not what he said, just change to a T-5 gear.
have the original 6cyl standard cable in my car , bought a speedo gear on ebay for 10 bucks...have to match rear end ratio...
well right now i'm using an 8 inch rear out of a 4 door v8 with 3.00 ratio do you know the speedo gear size for this set?
You have to be sure with the automotive Toploader. Some of them have the speedometer pickup on the wrong side for a Maverick and the gear has a reverse bevel on the gear. The one for the early (65-66) Mustang was on thr drivers side but some of the other ones were on the passenger side.
Some of the Torino have the opposite side speedo cables and the Galaxie units are, but these had the long tailshaft.
