Hello all. I am very new to the world of Ford Maverick. I also own a 86 Mercury Capri 5.0 that I restored and I own a 96 mustang GT as well. I recently inherited a 75 Maverick. To be honest I initially did not like the car at all. However after doing some research I have totally become obsessed with them. They are really cool an unique cars. I look so forward to working on it an rebuilding it to my liking. I have alot of questions an I look forward to being a very active member of this forum.
Welcome to the board. Everyone on this forum has an obsession with Mavericks and Comets. They are very easy cars to become addicted to. Glad you could join us.
Welcome aboard! And I have no idea what Jean is talking about. I can quit any time I want...I can...I really can!
That is so true. I havent been this infatuated with a car in a long time. I have so many questions. I am not even sure what thread to post some of them. I do have a couple quick questions though. In the 2 door coupe style mavericks, are there any big differences in the body of the coupes. I have a 75 maverick however I like the way the earlier body styles look. 70-72 years. I believe the fronts are the same an I have heard that the bumpers are changable. However the rear of my 75 an the 70-72 look very different. Is it just the bumpers that are different or is it the body's. Are the valances different as well? My car also seems to not have that ducktail like spoiler on it too. Am I going to be able to add these parts to my car to get the look that I want? Are there any write ups about these things? thanks in advance.
Yes, the bodies are basically the same. You can make your 75 look like the early cars with the bumper swap and spoiler add on. Use the search feature located above and you will find many threads posted on doing bumper swaps and pretty much anything else you can imagine on these cars. We're here to help in any way we can so don't be afraid to ask but you can rest assured what you are wanting to do has definitely been done many times and talked about a lot. We're glad to have you here and post pics when you get a chance. We all love seeing pics of new members cars. Also, Mavaholic, one of our members here lives up your way. He has tons of parts for these cars. You'll probably be hearing from him soon.
You seem to have a Maverick dealership there....LOL. You sound like my father that has been claiming he can quit cigarettes anytime he wants 30 years later.....lol. By the way you have an awesome maverick. hat is exactly what I would like my car to look like. It looks very similar to a fastback(that I would like but cant afford) Is it possible for my 75 to look like that or do I need to get an earlier model? How long did it take you to get your car the way it is today? It is simply amazing.
That is awesome. I also belong to a mustang forum. This one seems so much more laid back. The mustang forum always seems like everything is a contest. Dont get me wrong. I have learned so much on that forum. But the drama gets kinda old a bit. I would like to post pics of the car. Do I have to have a certain amount of posts to do so??
LOL...I've never thought of it as a dealership but I guess that's about the size of it. I do buy and sell a few every chance I get. I think I need to do a little more selling right now though. I spent about 6 months on my car the first time I built it and then had to redo most of it when Katrina put 4 ft of water in it. I manage a body shop so it helps. I have access to resources and equipment most people don't have or it would have taken much longer. Anyway, thanks for the comments. I think you're gonna like it here.
Check out this thread! It's from Mavaholic. He's in Crownsville Maryland. I don't know how far that is from you but that's where all the parts are. http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=43906&highlight=mother+load Hit him up before all the good stuff is gone.
Yes, it is fairly rare. It's a 71-72 Grabber hood. I presently have 5 of them but that doesn't mean there is a lot of them around. Lots of people trying to get them. The outside of it would be fairly easy for a good body man to fix. The inside is usually the hard part...but still, it looks like a good fixable hood. Looks like a good project to work with there. Good luck with it. I'm off to bed now. Later!
Welcome and yes the hood is worth saving as it's a rare grabber hood ,you could sell it even in this shape.
