I love my little Mexican Fairmont! The Ford tradition is that when they run out of certain parts, they install other models' parts. Mine was built in Toluca, Mexico. Fairmonts have cardboard headliners, not mine - it has a metal hooped Granada or Maverick/Comet headliner. I has full velour interior, never offered until 1980. And a bunch of other details that tell me the car got upgraded through the assembly line. So I figured I come over from my usual home - StationwagonForums.com - and see some detail info that I can't seem to dig out anywhere.

I noticed an article about Splash Guards that I got linked to via Google, and found that very interesting. Mine didn't even have left-over clips in place.

Anyway, I roller-painted mine, and am just waiting for warmer weather to finish the wiring, new upholstery, and new engine tuneup.

    Here's a couple of pics:

Yep! Like a charm! 8 coats! I buffed it before it got really cold and gave it a good wax job before we dipped to below 43F. Even bird dropping don't stick! :thumbs2:

I started off with the Moparts.org thread, and adjusted everything for my climate and temperature/humidity ratings.

Today, there are at least two forum sites just handling Roller jobs and that Hotrod magazine article from July 2007 (wimpy effort) turned out a respectable finish.

I even found a guy who posted his Black Corvette roller job! The custom license plate says it all! :D

I don't know if the US division of Rustoleum offers the extra colors and the Tint Base, but you could take a quick trip from Delaware and pick it up at a Home Depot.

    Here's a couple of sites:

    http://rollyourcar.com/default.aspx

    http://rolledon.com/index.htm

    Here's my Diary (32 pages):
    http://www.stationwagonforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=711

Page 5 or 8 has the Moparts How to stage threads in DOC format, page 18 or 19 has my cost estimate (Recall that I did a glass out, stripped out job) ($214.00 - all in!) There's some really funny stories in there, great pics, and just when you think you're all wet-sanded out, frustrated, tired of dealing with air bubbles, those stories keep you going. :thumbs2:

And here's the HR article link:

I've been over on the Stationwagonforum since this post, (cause I have a wagon?:biglaugh:). Now that the temp outside is almost human again, I've started tweaking some final stuff. I'll post those in the Technical Forum. (Rear end, and tranny ring gear).
