I am buying a '74 maverick, 2 door, dark green. The body is very well maintained except for the front right fender (but ive got a replacement for that already, and im going to give it some new paint when its done). the interior is extremely well kept. I know its a straight 6, and i want to keep it that way, but i dont know what KIND of an I6 it is...any way to tell just by looking at it? I am a complete novice when it comes to cars, except for changing oil, fixing a flat, rotating my tires, and filling it with gas. I want to put a dual exhaust on it, and raise the back end, my friend can help me with the raise. I am extremely curious what all it is that i need to do to swap to a dual exhaust, i dont know a whole lot of car terminology, so if you could describe what youre talking about that would be great. the '74 has a lil over a 100k miles. I have a '75 4 door that i will be using as a parts-car, so if youve got ideas with what i could swap or anything, feel free to chime in your 2 cents worth! basically i want to beef it up without going to a V8. my friends all have some muscle cars, and we each want to have the biggest and baddest ride, im competing against a 79 Camaro and a 72 SS Nova. thanks in advance for all your help!
expensive but i plan to do something like this when i save enough http://classicinlines.com/home.asp http://www.cliffordperformance.net/ we have a cruise in everett this sunday
if you do the dual exhause you should probably buy a header from one of those links, a dual outlet preferably. it'll make it sound a whole lot nicer. after its on just get a local muffler shop to bend you up the pipes. theres no aftermarket kits out there that will work.
oh and I discovered tonight that it has drum brakes, but the part car has disc, so thats good. it has a vinyl top, and some grabber wheels. it itself isnt a grabber though. oh and also the engine is a 250.
yeah its already got the 5 lug pattern on it now, but i still need to swap to the disc. so is there a specific type of header i will need?
