electrical problems

    i took my insturment panel out to change the bulbs to 5w5s to make the gauges more visable but now when i reinstalled it with the new bulbs all the lights flash when i turn on the dash lights and i can hear like a funny noise coming from the left side of the dash i have no idea where to begin im not good with car electrical yet also how can i test to see if the regulator is good on the panel and my fuel gauge is also not working its always on empty and i shorted the sending unit pins and it still didnt work can anyone help me? -rob:mad:

    The circuit breakers for the lights are inside the headlight switch. They automatically reset, that's the clicking you hear. You either have a short circuit or the breakers are weak and won't hold the current of the new lamps. Most likely is that you pinched a wire somewhere when you reassembled the cluster.

    it was doing it before i even reinstalled the panel i thought it was because it wasnt grounded correctly

    Did you take the steering wheel off to remove the panel? The horn also goes through the breaker in the light switch.

    no i took it out by chalking the wheels and putting the car in 1st gear on the colum it took a little manuvering but it fits back in without taking out the steering wheel.
