My dads friend has a 351 windsor and i am thinking about puting it in my mav. I have a 75 2door with a 250 right now. Will this work. If so does anyone know how much horsepower this engine has. The engine is also a 75. Thanks
it will fit, but your going to do alot of things like notch the towers get a better tranny...it'll probally have 200HP@fly
The 351W was introduced in 1969, year model rated at 250 hp (186 kW) with 2 barrel carb or 290 hp (216 kW) with a 4 barrel. The four barrel version actually produced 320 to 325 hp (239 to 242 kW).
you pretty much have to do everything involved with doing the 302 swap then deal with header fitment. i say go for it though
just checked my chilton manual 75 351W compact 2bbl 143@3600 255@2200 8.2:1 351w intermediate 2bbl 154@3800 268@2200 8.2:1 351w CAL 2bbl 153@3400 270@2400 8.2:1
the I6 C4 is not built the same way as the V8 C4,but being a stock engine i would see a problem but no one can resist putting on a bigger cam,intake,carb...etc.
Depends on what type of performance you are looking for, and how you are going to treat the car. Only the driver can decide whats good enough for themselves.
Either a 351w or a 302 will be fast. Just remember fast = money. The faster you go the faster your money goes.
It's not an everyday car thank god. What i'm trying to get at is how much more power will the 351w bring than a 302. Thanks
Again, it depends on how much you want to spend. The 351 can always make more HP than a 302, if your doing the same mods. you can always stroke the 351 out further than the 302. No substitute for cubic inches.
if its a ready to run healthy engine i'd go for it. a well built 302 would probably be faster but like don said, the faster you go the more $ you pay. it'll be a rocket ship compared to the 250 though
