Anyone know the gas mileage for Maverick/Comet?

    my maverick gets about 26 mpg I have 3 on the tree 200 ci love it

    Paul,

    My 72 Comet weighed in at 2830. That is with a 351 with an aluminum intake (negates the 40 lb weight difference over the original 302). C4 tranny, power steering and A/C compressor stripped off of it.

    I later removed the rest of the heat and air system, so mine is probably 50 lbs lighter now, which would be about 2780.

    I would say a 6 cylinder would be around 2700 lbs if it wasn't loaded with a lot of options.

    Any easy way to check is to go recycle some scrap metal. You get to drive your car across their scales.

    All this consideration about vehicle weight as it relates to mileage is more of a factor in stop and go driving. On the highway, aerodynamics are a bit more important than getting every last ounce of weight out of the car.
