well as i was changing out my rear gas shocks for air shocks, i noticed some gas sitting on the lip of the gas tank (the part that faces the rear axle). theres no puddles under the car. I dont know where its coming from. there is a rubber house that comes out the top of the tank, dont know where it goes or what its for but does any one know if its complicated to replace?? or how??? i dont want to blow up lol thanx

I think you will need to drop the tank to get to the ...vent valve...it may be your leak.
you can get them new from Ford.

for the A/S... adj. air shocks

If the gas is not showing as coming from the top of the tank I would believe it is probably from pinhole rust just above the lip where dirt and moisture collect. I have seen a lot of tanks like that, the rest of the tank may be very solid but due to dirt and moisture collecting on the flange it will rust there.

i felt near the the hose where it starts to disappear between the tank and the body and its wet there. theres no rust on this tank its covered in oil lol i wiped most of the oil gunk off and its clean under neath. i assumed it was that rubber hose thats leaking but im not sure if i can do the fix myself or if im better off taking it to a shop to have it done.

It's not that bad to drop the tank! Run as much gas as you can first b/4 you try it. Also spray your threads real good on the straps (at least two times) while your running the gas out of it. Put all new rubber on it hoses, grommets & seal all the way around the flange just in case. Do it right so you only have to do it once. Good Luck!
