I have a small trans leak on my 72 Comet GT (302/C4). I finally had time yesterday to get under the car and look for the leak. All trans lines are dry along with the diptstick tube seal. The leak is coming from what I believe to be the neutral safety switch on the drivers side. Is there an o-ring or something behind it that can be causing the leak? How easy is this to fix? Apprecaite any advice.

Im not sure on the neutral safety switch thing... never ran one...

But the speedometer cable does have a o ring IIRC

More than likely, it is the small "o" ring on the kickdown lever or even the seal on the shift shaft itself. The o ring is pretty easy to fix by removing the switch and lever, the seal is a bit harder to get out but with some ingenuity and a hollow seal driver to install the new one. Otherwise you will have to drop the trans pan and remove the lever assy. for easier access to the seal.
