I have a 1976 Maverick Stallion, and 85 More Mavericks and Comets in Inventory.
I have a 3.8V6 SC engine that was built,, Has 1,100 miles on it, (y),,

I also have a 71 Maverick Body,, since all the SC Cougar parts are still in stock,, Im thinking its Time to Build a Fun Toy,, This was a project I was planning last year,, I wonder if a C4 trans from a V8 will bolt up to the SC engine,, :yup:,, I am going to design a new dash for the car,, to update for the PC and all the other goodies I want to pack in to it,, Like Climate controll and Cruise control tilt wheel,, and Power seats and windows,, So I think its time for a new Camera,, and going to take allot of pics,,,,

First thing will be to get the Body restored,, and into Uro prime and then I can cut drill and make the modifications ,, This is gonna be fun,,:rofl2:

i would think that you might be better off hacking as necessary, mock it up and then send it to the body shop?

either way, good luck. cant wait for the pics. i know a few t-bird/cougar guys that love those engines but do have frequent complaints about blown head gaskets

I always thought it would be cool to put an SHO motor in a Maverick.
    But supercharged v6 sounds cool!

The rear wheel drive 3.8's have the same bell housing pattern as a 302 IIRC. Definitely can't wait to see how this turns out! :thumbs2:

Dont forget about the intercooler. The SC's came with one...so you'll have to find a place to put that too. Just adds a little complexity. A 3.8 is going to be tight in there anyway and there isn't much room for an IC out front, so looks like there will be a little bit of fabrication necessary.

    Sounds cool though!

Joe, it ought to push a maverick pretty good when you compare the weight of a super coupe. If the bell housing bolt pattern doesn't match I'm sure that there is some one who makes one to bolt up to that motor and a C4 tranny. Good luck and I'll be watching as well for progress pics.

Also, Joe, if you go to Al and you go I65 let me know when you are coming through, maybe we can meet up as well. Ward

even the AOD's between 3.8 and 5.0's interchanged, so yes, they have the SBF bolt pattern

I would think that with the shorter motor (two less cylinders) that you should be able to fit that intercooler in there. This will be a kick in the butt! I'm partial...but I would put a manual behind it! Either way...it's' gonna be fun! Good luck Joe! Keep us updated!!!

Joe - it sounds like you a MN12 guy. I've had two Thunderbirds - a '95 V-8 and a '92 SC. The 3.8 SC is a rocket. I'm looking forward to seeing pics of this project!
