I don't know jack about these cars so yall are gonna have the take me to school. lol any differences between the years I should be aware of?

Were gonna be rebuilding a 289 and C4 out of a '64 Galaxy, any thoughts or suggestions. He's wanting a Hwy cruiser w/ some punch I pretty much know I want to build the drive train, but I'm open to any thoughts or suggestions

You picked a great car to build. The 289/C4 is a direct bolt in. These cars are great because you never see them any more. Get lots of attention. Use the search feature above and you should be able to find answers to any of your questions. Good luck...and we'll help any way we can! (y)

Welcome to the board. The first Mavericks were 69.5 (key in dash) or the 70. They were all registered as 70's. The tranny tunnel is a little smaller than the later years. the big thing is the small bumpers were only til 72. then they changed. Also the Grabber hood with the scoops was only in 71 & 72. The bumpers can be swapped out. There's other changes also but I'm sure you'll figure them out or hear from others. Good luck. :Welcome:

I personally like the later models for the disk brakes, a/c, power brakes and the glove box. And the arm rests. but the early years had the skinny bumpers. But the most important thing is that its FAST FAST FAST!!!

    Howdy and :Welcome:
I would look for the best condition car you can afford, irregardless of the year. Early models can be converted to disc brakes and newer models can be converted to small bumpers, if thats your preference. They all can be converter to V8s. I would look to upgrading the transmission to an overdrive unit for maximum cruising, And look into EFI for maximum efficiency.

The motor and tranny have already been rebuilt one so we know whats there, but I'd wouldn't mind having a GV unit.

EFI is probably out dad wont have a clue. It's manly gonna be his toy with some Suggestions from me on how/ what to build.

Also it will more than likely be a 4 door car, if I can find one for the right price.
