What gets me are the valve covers, up until 73 they said "Power By Ford" but without that square box, then 74 changed to just "Ford" I thought????
I think there is a casting number on the block down low on the drivers side. Where that is exactly escapes me right now, perhaps by the motor mount. If it is D2 it is 1972 ... D4 is 1974, etc I am betting 74 here ... One thing that is throwing me is the heater tubing in the manifold and along the valve cover. Not familiar with that ... The power steering mount looks different too, now that I am seeing the picture that was added later.
well i should have that motor buy noonish tomorry so i'll be sure to let you guys know the details. i couldnt zoom in clearly enough on the sticker to see wat it said but heres what i did do today
i tend to agree its a 78 ,dad had a 78 e350 and it looked exactly like that engine powered by ford egr and everything so ill go with 78 too
Ya know, I keep wanting to attribute that engine to a truck, rather than a car. However, I couldn't get past the fact that trucks used the 351m/400 until 82, and that engine would have to be gray after 82... However, a van fits perfect! That would allow it to be a "truck" engine from 78, still be Ford blue, and would count for some of the funny brackets and such.
yup its a slpitling imgine of that engine , i sold it a little while back or i would take a picture but yup that would be my guess, 145 hp engine!
soooooo..... why did'ja put a brand new oil filter on that trashed six banger? .... If the 351 is a van motor, would it have heater tubes like that? He said that he thinks it is out of a Galaxy ...
well the oil in there maybe has 300 miles on it i talked to the guy on the phone last night. he said it came out of a 73 boat and he talked about itt as tho it was definatly the original motor
