Exactly! Tasteful mods should only enhance the value of this car.

    Wow. Awsome.
Love what your doing. Color is great.
Well for me I like stock cars. It shows the history of car.
But I have a place in my heart for hot rods.
But for a car like that, I would keep it stock just to preserve the history of it.
As for value. I noticed original cars don't sell for more then modified cars.
Good luck with the car and keep us posted.

Since it will be your Dad's car....does he prefer buckets or a bench?

That's the thing about Marti reports... it's neat info, but when it comes to combinations of colors and options, I bet most Mavericks are one of a fairly small number with one particular exact combination. Even all-original cars can have a hard time selling for what people think they are worth. The most important thing is what will make you, or in this case, your dad, happy with the car.

It will not hurt the value of the car at all. These cars are worth more modified then totally stock, even if it is some "rare" combination. It sounds to me like you are on the right track as far as the modern drive train. Just do a nice mild (if not totally stock) EFI 5.0 H.O. with an AOD behind it. Put power disc brakes on it, keep the power steering. Just build a car that drives nice and can be driven anywhere, and looks mostly stock. Talk to dad about his Maverick and what ever seats he had in his car. Just see why he liked what ever seat was in his Maverick over the other choice, and then decide where to go from there. Surely you can do that without giving away what you're up to.

You and your brother have a nice car to start with and the smile on your dad face will be PIRCELESS when you hand him the keys . I have a 5.0 EFI mav and I love it and would not second though about doing another one . Driveability is the best thing about it . I can go from sea level to 8000 ft. and the car does know the differants . Fuel millage is great 22 to 24 mpg ( AOD 3.00 gears ) . I didn't build my car for the value they may have in the future I built it for me . So build for your dad and the enjoyment he will get out of it . As a thougth you might think about power dics brakes on all four corners a/c and plenty of sound deading .

    just my 2ct. JAY
