Was looking through some old pics. and found these, thought you might enjoy them,The first pic. I've posted before, thats my black Grabber('71) in '73 I believe,I bought in '72 while working at a local Ford dealer,I am currently reproducing this car with the blue one in my avatar, posted some other pics. last week of the progress. The next pic is same car in '74,had it stripped and repainted, changed to Cragars, would love to find it again, was sold in '75 to someone in the Youngstown,Girard,Canfield Ohio area,if anyone knew the car or knew someone that owned it let me know,302,4sp,4.30 9"Headers,Sunset mural on decklid. The next pic was my yellow '71 Grabber I bought in about '76 while working at a Chevy (sigh!) Dealer,it had some rust along the bottom and I was a bodyman then,I and painted it and re striped it,302,auto,ps,black guts, bench seat ,drove it for a year and sold it.The next pic is the only one I have of my '71 Comet GT,I believe this pic was '88-'89 because my Turbo Cp. was a '88,302,auto,ps,bucket seat, floor shift car(man I wish I had that one back!) drove it for a couple years and I think I sold it to my buddy for 950.00! Gee...wonder what my favorite color was then??Hope you enjoy the pics.,Jack

Nice! I love old pics of these cars.
Black and argent on these cars looks
better than black and gold on those
    famous Trans-Ams.

What kind of gas cap is on the black
Grabber in pic1? It looks bigger than
a standard Mav cap. Pop open?

Here is another '71/'72 Black/Argent Grabber for all to enjoy.
Not mine, I saved it from somewhere.

Great pictures, did the yellow one have red and orange stripes? That is the way mine came and we have a member restoring one that color here, I tried to help her get the right color chips for the stripes, I don't remember seeing this color combo before I bought mine

Thanks for the pic Seth, when I bought the car, another mechanic at the dealership had a twin to mine,I just thought that color combo was common then.....You hardly ever see Grabbers in black,The gas cap was a flip open from a '67 Mustang, but it did not say Mustang on it,I think it had "GT" in the center....and of course I'm looking for one!

qicvick, yes the stripes were red and orange and I had to take some of them off to repair and repaint at the time and a buddy of mine that worked at the chevy dealer with me had previously worked at Ford also and had a leftover kit in the same exact colors and he gave it to me and I had the right stripes to finish it....pretty lucky there!

Thanks for the pics Jack. Love looking at vintage pics as much as I do watching movies filmed in the 70's era where there are lots of car scenes. Always looking out for Mavericks/Comets. :)

Yes you were lucky because that stripe color is not reproduced now, my car had been repainted a brighter yellow with no stripes but they are still inside the door and orange inside the trunk tail lite panel ,yours is the first good pic. of one I've have seen, thanks!

I think if you contact the stripe companies directly.....they will make them in whatever color you want....for a higher price I am sure.
