I dont have a maveric yet, but i have dreams of swapping an 03 cobra engine into a mavrick, or a 5.0. ok back to reality.

so what cars do maverics share suspension with?? what about some of the frame kits(like you see for the pro touring cars) if i do by a maverick(lack of them here in colorado) i want it to handle, not like an import, but like a nicely set up muscle car, money is not THAT big of an issue, but i do have my limits. links help the most. i have some car knowledge, mostly my chevelle and my 84' 200sx(solid rear axel)

Your not going to swap a 03 Cobra motor in without a Mustang II or similar front suspension. You have to get rid of the shock towers to make room for the wide DOHC Modular engine. Several of us here have this suspension in our cars. Mustang II front suspensions are not that expensive just go ahead and opt for tublar a-arms upper and lower and coilovers well worth the extra money!

I bought a complete front suspension kit for a 1971 Ford Mustang from American Pony Parts for use on my car, install went off without a hitch.

yeah the 03 swap was just a fantasy, but now that i know it is possible i might check into it more. will the maverick drivetrain stand up to it??

so where can i find more info on this "shelby" drop? and what about different welding in a different rear end, or is the maverick rear pretty good. why i ask is , because with my nissan they do not make aftermarket at all so all the susupension goodies are custom, unless i swap over to 240sx front and 300zx rear suspension bits. is the maverick like this, or are there sufficient parts to stiffen it up a bit( light auto-x ,and some spirited driving.)

the stock diff is good or you can up grade to a 9" wich can be made bullit proof. the rear suspension is decent. you can up grade the leaf spring bushings to polyuithane and put heavy duty shackes on. add a rear sway bar and a good set of tires it should handle really well. no welding nessary

the 5.0 wont be much of an issue to swap in though. they were a stock motor that alot of mavericks came with factory

me and my buddies are building up a 93 and a 97 nissan 240sx, the front suspension of a maverick is actually kinda simualr with the shock towrs and all, just alot more old school. no struts and no rack and pinion

you just have to figure out what exactly you need the suspension to do and also how much money your working with

the mustang II front set up would probably be the top noch level of front suspension modification

thanks for the info. anyone got a link to pics of suspension setups? so then the 5.0 in maverics should be very well buildable then, might not have to do a swap if they are, i dont want stupid hp, i just want a useable hp and tq curve.

are you looking for a versalies for the diff? if thats the case i wouldnt bother. the only good thing about the versalies diff is the disk brakes, and they are old and heavy. the 8" that comes in the maverick is plenty strong for warmed over 302. you can up grade it with disk brake off a explorer or lincon mark 8. there is a tech artical on that swap. or you can get a aftermarket disk brake kit like the ones from willwood.

9''s are stronger yes but whats the sence of carring that extra weight for something thats not needed? a mild 302 isnt goignt to hurt a stock maverick rear and discs can be swaped in easily enough and ones that are much better for that matter

note, that if you are putting a late model 5.0 into the stock maverick suspension, you'll need a front sump pan.
