Finally got the much needed brake and radiator upgrades completed (well, actually had 'em completed last month, but been too lazy to post). The rad is the Jimmy/Cid aluminum unit sold here through the forum. Cools much better than the stock 3 core. Tested it on a 90 degree day and maximum temp hit around 197. The old 3 core would continue to climb past 225 on that warm a day on the interstate. Usually I would get white knuckles and get off the "freeway." This would bring the temp back down slightly. Looks like the cooling problems are over. ------ On the discs, I went the Wilwood 11.75" diameter set up. This necessitated ditching my trusty 14" Western Wheels in favor for the 15's to clear the calipers. I wanted to keep the 5 spoke look so I picked up some Eagle Torque Thrust copies. Yes, I know, everyone and their gran-ma runs these, but I got a good deal on 'em so there (tee-hee). Many of my fears regarding the increased protrusion of the brake mounting surface turned out to be a non issue despite the web site and installation manual dire warnings. Perhaps I'll include some details in an installation article if folks are interested. I realize I wore out my welcome with one of our members because of my many questions about the installation when I received the response "not my problem anymore." D, I got the hint. I apologize for being a pest, but the offset situation had me nervous. I am/was completely new to this type of brake project and I respected your experience. ----- Anywho, I hope ya'll enjoy the pics.
Looks good. I found a place that sell Wilwood kits that fit our cars but I was not sure. Since alot of people think they fit. Was the kit complete & were did you get it from? Did you get the Wilwood calipers also?
Thanks SR. The kit was complete. The only thing that was incorrect were the adaptor fittings at the frame. The kit has 3/8" to 3N and the brake lines on the car needed 7/16" to 3N size. I simply ordered the correct ones from Summit. I purchased the kit from Hot Rods USA here in Washington. They had a deal running at the time for free shipping, so I only got socked with WA state sales tax. Yes, the 4 piston Dynalite calipers are included in the kit.
ONy thing that sucks is the kits only work with the drum brake spindles. So if you already converted I hope you kept the drum spindles, I know I didn't and wish I did. The Mustang kits should work with the drum spindles.
That is the same place I found. They said it would work on a Granada spindle. Its also on the web site.
