What is this and what does it do? Do I need this or is there away aound using it? I have changed my power brakes to manuel and I dont know what to do with this plug. The way I changed my brakes, I forgot about this piece.

I'd suggest finding a way to reinstall it. You definitely need it

    Frank, your so funny.
How does it work? I took it off so long ago, does it matter what direction it's install?

When you depress the pedal it activates the spring/switch, and current goes to your lights, you'll need it for general safety and so insurance would pay out if someone rearends you, if you have inspections in Tenn. You'll need it to pass, and as an all around GOOD IDEA, i'd put it back on.

Why'd you go to manual from power if you dont mind me asking?

    Frank,

If you think they are a PITA to install on your car ... you ought to try it on one with a clutch pedal ...

    Here's the drill ... You can ...
    A) Look at it
    B) Touch it
    C) Grab it with a tool ...

but you can't combine any two of the above

Of course, the one in my white car went out three times in the six years I had it!

If I ever had to do that again in a stick Comet, I'd remove the clutch pedal first.

I went to a 5 speed and the booster was in the way to get the cable inline with the clutch pedal.

I love this forum. Do anyone ever sleep...lol

I see how it works but is it connected to a bracket or do someone have a pic with it on the pedal?

you have to...take the seats out, remove the carpet, drop steering column, remove the dash and windshield...
before you can see where it's mounted...:yup:

maybe not the carpet, dash, windshield or dropping the column but the seats out is a maybe...:hmmm:

    ...TFF...:D

To install the switch, position the switch, pushrod, bushing and washer on the brake pedal pin and press the hairpin retainer into place.
connect the wires at the connector.

The way I look at it...Ford bought a bunch of washers and paid someone to put them on the car. The book says they were nylon washer but I'm sure any washer as long as it fits will be ok to keep the switch from flopping around will be fine.
