I just got a few other people tell me its just condensation in my oil… some one also recommended I get 1 L transmission fluid 1L Diesel fuel and the rest in oil… and flush for 3.5 min let cool… drain… then add more oil…. Run for 10min…drain…and replenish with fresh oil.. Does this sound like an option for me? I really haven’t seen the level of my rad fluid change. (so I hope its not my head gaskets) And every thing seems to be pointing in the direction of me changing my PCV Valve… I’m going to put the old one back in.
PCV valves are cheap you could just buy one anyways, mine was like $1.00, i have heard of putting diesil into your oil to clean it but never tranny fluid, the best thing i would recemend would be just to invest in a PCV valve if that doesnt solve it try flushing your oil with some diesil and oil mixed togeaher, or buy some of that pore in engine flush.
I remember my shop teacher telling us to put in tranny fluid... He said it was just as good as any motor flush and a little bit cheaper ... Dont think i ever tried it ...
Thanks people! How else would I be able to tell if it was rad fluid or not? Condensation = colour? Rad fluid = colour? Or are they just the same?
hmm thats a new one for me ... what cant you use ATF for? lol cleans carbs, engine, power steering, and still works in trannys
If it was rad fuild u should have alot of white smoke coming out of the exhaust, but some times that only happens at high rpms, pull off your pcv valve and look for a ring of white film around it if there is its your PCV valve and why do i keep clicking on new thread ... WHY DO THEY HAVE THAT THERE
So oil can get into my rad fluid? I thought u can only get rad fluid in your oil… Anyway, I’m still a little unsettled. It does have a bit of a mocha colour… ahhh… I need to photograph my dip stick… so u people can have a look for yourselves.
I managed a high volume quick lube for 6 years. Here in the midwest it can get very cold one day and then bounce up to comfy temps the next day. Changes like this can cause milky looking oil too. The 2 engines that did this the worst were the older Ford 302's and the GM Quad 4. Now dont ask me why, but with over 30K oil changes, even a dummy like me sees a pattern developing here. When I was a kid, I had the same concern for my Mav. I thought it was getting coolant in the oil. Was finally convinced it was nothing by a dude I really trusted. Turns out he was right and I ended up blowing up that motor after hitting 7000 rpm's on a missed shift. Dan
If the dipstick does not fit tightly in the tube it will get this on it. The oil may be ok. Drain it and even cut open the filter to see what you can see. Put a few drops of drained oil on a med hot cast iron skillet or hot plate. Water will sizzle and pop like popcorn if present. Cold areas and high humidity places will cause this if the o-ring or grommett is not fitting in the tube correctly. Check it in the morning and will show color, drive it and check it later and I bet is normal. jmo
