Hey everyone! I just picked up a 1971 Ford Maverick to build for my son's first car. Eventually I plan to have this car back for myself, but we all know how plans go. I have been googling stuff about Mavericks and this forum keeps popping up so it looks like I'll be spendng a lot of time here. I have built a few cars over the years, but haven't been able to for the past few years with having kids and a business of my own.
The car was originally a 6cyl auto car that I plan to change to a mild running 302 (since my teenager will be driving this car). I have only seen the car in pictures and will be picking it up from CA in two weeks. My dad has the car in his possesion and gives the car high marks. Since he is a lifelong Ford nut who has several early Ford's he is a good judge. The car never had AC, but we will be adding that since it tends to get rather warm during the AZ summers. My last car that I built was a 69 Fairlane that I used as a daily driver. I am a bit rusty in the garage and new to Mavericks so I will asking a ton of dumb questions.
Welcome, I am also in AZ., Peoria area. That's 2 new members in AZ. in a week. Going to need another meet once these cars are done.
Thanks for the welcomes everyone. I am anxious to get the car home (as is my son). Hey Mavaholic, the list of my dad's cars would be quite lengthy, but he has a few 32's, 40's & 57's as well as a 61 Galaxie, 72 Ranchero...and many, many more. His only non-Ford is a 52 Austin Pickup.
