'74 Mav 302, where should I look for the ballast resistor, and, or how can I tell if it is functioning properly?

From the factory, the wire that feeds the ignition is a resistive wire, there is no actual resistor from the factory.

    Ballast Resistor

If you need a resistor, use one for a 1968-1970 Chrysler product, they were cheap and very robust, made from a heat resistant material.
