i thought mexico is unsafe to travel to right now?? did you guys go for business or vacation? I've been meaning to go down there but now with all the stuff I hear about kidnappings and murders I'm kinda hesitant.

Mashori,There are only 2 troubled areas in Mexico . Mexico City (kidnappings ) and Porta Vallarta (where we were) a coccain kingpin was put in prison and the mexican government believes another will come to take his place so the have stepped up security at the airports, marine ports and all borders with police packing fully atuomatic machine guns , they are checking people all day and all night ,if your papers are in order you will have no problems ,there is so much security i felt safer ,lol. Bev and i walked the streets day and night with no worries and not one problem. There is a town 30 minutes from Pota vallarta on the ocean called Bucarius, we are thinking of buying a lot there to build a house over looking the ocean as an investment and early retirement home. cheers friend James

It's more than those two cities, Over 1,370 killings reported in Juarez Mexico alone so far this year. 10 murders in the last 24 hours. It's crazy over there, they killed a high ranking police officer last week and killed another news reporter in front of his wife and kids. Luckily no violence has trickled over here to El Paso! I hear it's bad it Tijuana and other border towns also.

that's just crazy! it just doesn't seem safe right now. Some of my coworkers are citizens of Mexico and said they used to go regularly and now they haven't gone. One guy particularly said he wasn't gonna go even for christmas, which has been their yearly tradition. I don't know, I really wanna go because I'm never been but I like to make it to an age when I'll actually see my Maverick "completed".

Well its not stopping Bev and I ,we had a great time and did not see or hear of one acked of violents . I talked to a real estate agent there and he informed me that there are 36,000 Canadians living full time in Porta Vallarta and 30,000 U.S citizens living there legalally and 10,000 U.S citizens living there ilegally in Porta Vallarta full time, the buidling construction is booming and trades are working fulltime on high rise condos satarting at 200,000 U.S to 1,600,000 U.S.I did my home work at least to buy ocean view property for a very, very good price.cheers James ,ps were going back in 8 months for two week to holiday again and to buy land.
