Get Springs to match the cam.(allways do this when upgrading your cam)

Trick flow made a nice set of springs locks and retainers for that combo. They used to be listed in jegs not sure if they are now or not. Also if you really want to get the most out of that cam get the 1.7 cobra rockers made by crane that the 93 cobra motors came with from factory. I did that combo many times

Buy springs to match. Don't believe me? Read my on-line diary at http://home.cmaaccess.com/~scodon/

I thought I scored with GT40P heads...for about a year or two, then those roller lifter springs ate up my flat tappet lifter cam (and lifters). So if you swap heads or cam, swap out springs to match.

It is relatively cheap, compared to buying a new engine. Like I did in Feb of this year,

Correct valve springs are the most overlooked item in any rebuild etc. Correct seat pressure, installed height and open pressure, can make or break and engine. Many time's when an engine is not performing up to par, some guy's begin changing everything under the hood, except valve springs. Sometime's, putting a shim under existing spring's, will improve performance, but probably the springs need replacing anyway. Roller cam spring's are never used on flat tappet camshaft's, the spring pressure is way too high and will definately wipe the lobes off a solid or hydraulic flat tappet cam. Good idea to talk to a experienced head rebuilder and the cam company, to determine what spring and installed height, will work with your particular camshaft. Lot's of articles on this, on the web.
