I removed the heater, A/C box from my 75 and sealed the cowl vents with duct tape to check for additional leaks. Last night we had a good rain storm and this morning I had water in my right floor board. I want to make sure all the leaks are fixed prior to having the carpet installed. The windshield gasket has a few cracks. Are new windshield gaskets available for the Mavs?

The transmission has been rebuilt, brakes fixed, new starter and other things but I am not going any further until the leaks are stopped. If they cannot be fixed then I will get rid of it.

I have read some of the fixes on the tech site but I am not in a position to strip the car down to fix a leak.

Windshield gaskets are available reproduced and sold through Autokrafters. :)

Don't give up yet, windshield gaskets are an easy fix. (y)

It's the cowls that take a lot of work to repair. :smash:

    Shoot a Mavrick

I just went out and shot a few pictures of the rust on the right side.

The fix I am going to try is to seal the cowl vents, replace the windshield gasket and the hat area I am going make a metal plate to seal off the hole and then fiberglass the irregular vertical damage.

We used to call that kind of fix something else but now we must call it a "presidential solution".

At this point I am only interested in results.

WOW!! Much worse than mine are.

Other than replacing the entire cowl, I think you are on the right track as an alternative.

I already cut out my cowl grills and will weld in plates to fill them. I'm going to fix my cowl vents the best that I can and do a combination of bringing air into the cowl from another source and try not to drive it in the rain. The car won't be seeing any Northeast winter weather anymore either.

TEXASJACK, were did your car come from anyway? I'm just surprised it is this far gone living it's life in Texas unless it spent some of it's time near the Gulf.

Great website with a lot of helpful information. Thanks.:Handshake

I just used Rust Bullet underneath parts of my floorboards. I used the Black Shell brush on and that stuff sure dries into some tough stuff.

I do not know where it came from but I am sure it is not a Native Texas.

I appreciate the Por-15 I will try that. If I am not able to stop the leaks it is going to the crusher.

    Thank Y'all
