finally got the GT back together. but won't run. to tell a lil about it. orignal 73 block, flat tops, polished rods, 65 289 heads, proformer intake and cam, holley 4160, points dizzy(electronic on the way) msd coil. i pulled the motor for rebuild on a budget, so it never left the garage (no machine work) cyls looked good, had no lip, so i just honed them a lil. problem is im getting fire, timing seems good, checked for 180 out and it back fired through the carb so i put it back TDC. then i thought points, looked good so i replaced them anyway. still just a hic-up or two. i have a procomp distributor and 6al on the way but wanted to ask you guys if im forgetting something. what else should i check? and please dont say check compression:cry:

I agree, look down the carb neck. Do you get a pump shot when you snap the throttle?

yes had gas, had a friend adjust the valves. thought he knew how. he over tighten em. no compression. wondering why it sound like a mini starter:hmmm:. so i adjusted the valves and it fired up. thanks everyone

didnt want it to compression because i rebuild the bottom half of the motor. but it was the valves so its not my fault:bananaman
