Ok I have a set of bucket seat rail and I am going to mount them in my Maverick. Mine had a bench seat and my question is? Ok which of the non lever rails go to which side, one of them has a large spacer on the back and a small one on the front, I don't have my carpet out yet so that I can see just wondering if you all could answer before I started the project, and don't say the way you took them off because I didn't :D. I am mounting them to a set of 70 Mustang tall buckets and they will bolt up fine just don't know which one goes on which side.

    Thanks for the help.

not sure... i'll have to check but if memory serves me correctly, the lever goes on the "outside" the non ytrannyhump side. also, if you didn't take out your carpet yet...you will note that there are actually little X shaped slits in your carpet where the new holes go! at least that was the case with my 72. i knew exactly where to drill! good luck neal!

they need to be recovered but I have them in, wanted to see how they looked and how they felt when driving the car. I am happy so I am hopping to have them done at the same time I am working on the engine swap.

Not to bad for free seats :D

Weren't you getting bucket seats from somebody out in New Jersey...and they somehow made their way to Michigan and you were going to go up and pick them up or something????

Lookin' good! Buckets are one of the easiest and most rewarding swaps ever to be done on a Maverick/Comet. Enjoy! :)

Hey Dennis that is what I thought when I first looked at them but the guy said they came out of his 70 Mustang......................If so they wouldn't be Sprint seats............But who knows for sure who ever had it before him may have put them in there

i know that the carpet in your mavs came with the little slits cut in it so you wold know where to drill the holes in the event of a bucket seat swap. however, i have no carpet in my mav so i was wondering if anyone knew the measurements of the hole pattern so i could get those seats in there most ricky tick. anyone?

Just did the same thing myself ...

I would not trust markings in a carpet set. Too much potential to get it wrong.

Don't remember the measurements, but here is how I proceeded.

Mount the tracks on the seats, so that you will have all the important dimensions at hand. Make sure that the tracks are even with each other ... all the way forward or back is good, and cross-measure them so you know they are square.

On your floorpan, draw a straight line between your front bench seat holes. You will be using the existing holes for the outbound rails. Bolts in the holes with a string drawn tight between them will get you there. The trans tunnel is in the way, so you will have to eyeball it a bit.

Do the same for the rear bench seat holes.

Measure in along these lines the width between the seat track bolts and mark it.

Cross-measure your marks to be sure everything is square and that the distance front-to-rear is correct.

Once you are sure of all that, drill the holes. Also note that the hole size does allow for some play compared to the track bolts.

Most of all, don't rush it ... focus on getting it right. Good luck!
