I hope someone might give me some advice here. I have 1972 semi-automatic 4 doors Maverick which runs
in Russia from 1980. Recently, I have found the following problem: if (in dark time) the engine has small revolutions (f.e. when car stops at the road-lights) then the lights on the front panel is switch off . After some time
    the front panel switchs on.
    Any ideas of problem cause?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    P.S. The battery is new

sounds like bad alternator - also check your battery and voltage regulator

Welcome to the club!!!! manimal is likely correct. A bad alternator will cause lights to dim or turn off while running. If this happened very recently, beware, because you are now running off of whatever juice is left in the battery, get this fixed. Grab a meter and check the volts going into the battery while running. Should be 15-17 or so while running.

A russian mav eh? is it any different? Do you have pics?
