I am getting disc brakes off a 77 to put on my 71 Grabber. Do I need the upper and lower control arms? What all do I need? Please help and thanks in advance.
No, you won't need the upper and lower control arms, but grab the outer tie rod ends. Someone once said they were different, that way you can just double check yours to what came on them.
brake for the switch you will need the outer rods and spendles. good news is most parts can be obtained at the napa. moog is a grat r&r parts like tie rods, caliper, pads, roters. so that said save the spendles at all cost.
Thanks guys. He already cut the tie rod end so I guess I will have to go to the parts store to do the comparison.
How'd that work out? I had bought the front-end suspension kit from PST for my 70' Mav and then I replaced the front drum to disc, now the tie-rod ends are loose. I got the whole front brake set-up from the salvage yard from another Mav, probably 74'- 77' range. Different tie-rod ends??
the tapered ends of the outer tierods are a differant diameter. if yours are loose and you got the whole thing from another car than they probably didn't get the right ones. they shouldn't be loose at all they should be as pressed in as a ball joint into the spindle.
