75-80 Dragway reopens (MD)

    We hear about it all the time how another track is closing down, but it's not to often we hear of a come back. 75-80 Dragway located in Monrovia Maryland opened it's doors in 1960. After a 45 year tradition it closed in 2005 never to open again to make way for the suburban expansion and a planned 1600 home community.

    It was announced late last month that the track is scheduled to reopen as a IHRA certified track on April 3rd. For those of this area the resurrection has been long coming.

    Is that the track Motorweek films at?

    In recent shows, you can see weeds growing out of the cracks from lack of use.

    Yes, we went by there today and they had a crew of guys working. The lanes look good now but the lot, stands, towers and buildings are still in bad shape. They were working on the PA system and lighting today.

    OUTSTANDING. Not the best track in the world but open beats closed any day!
