Well, I tried the tap extractor (in trying to remove a broken tap in the middle/top valve cover hole), it was a no-go. Can't even get the prongs of the extractor in there. After rebolting it, am gonna try a simple start up to see if anything leaks. If so, looks like the only alternative is to remove the head and get it to a machine shop:mad:. Ya think?

Do you now what a carbide ballnose end mill is? If you do, you can put one in a drill and it will go through a highspeed tap. Take your time and go slow.

If you have iron heads, try welding a nut over the broken bolt, filling the nut's hole with weld. let it cool to the point where the redness turns gray, then unscrew the nut and broken bolt. Works everytime.

just protect the inside of the motor from the welding slag and make sure no sparks can get into the carb.
