Progress has been a little slow partially due to waiting on parts & making time to work on it. Here is the latest. Using the Pro Charger there was not going to be enough room for the power steering pump so I converted to manual. Looks much cleaner under there now. On the engine I am down to the installation of the Pro Charger. I will be running a blow through Carb that I have ordered from C & S Specialties. I do have a question about the Pro Charger that I will post in the Technical Section.
I am really impressed with the amount of work you've gotten done in the past 2 months. I hope you're taking that car to Joplin in July
Thanks Bob. I could not have come this far this fast without some help. I have a friend that is helping me & that is a great motivator. Not sure if I can make it happen in time for Joplin but I will definitely try. That would be a blast.
Isn't that a lot of motor for your 8" rear? I know they say that they can be fairly strong but has anybody out there used one with that kind of horsepower? I'm hoping that someone says yes because I really don't want to go to all the trouble of shortening a 9" for mine. The motor looks great, everything is coming together beautifully, keep up with the updated pictures
Looks like an excellent build. Good stuff. There was the mention of head studs ... Has anyone done head studs on a 302 in a Mav? With the shock towers being what they are, I was wondering if you can still get a head off the motor with it in the car?
i actually did that this spring, i had ARP bolts and one wouldnt let go so i had to shave out the bolt head without scratching the head. I LOVE my dremel and shop vac. so i got studs instead and put it back together in the car. you have to go slow but it can be done, even with headers...
Cool info ... I did a search after posting and there was mention of some brand of studs that also have a hex key socket in the end so that they can be turned into place even with the head on the block.
Update: Not a lot of progress but it's getting there. I got the Pro Charger mounted to the motor! The Carb & Trany will be here next week. Next weekend I may be dropping it in the car.
Update Yesterdays progress: I replaced the front disc pads & rotors. I set the engine in place & attached the motor mounts. I was woried about the Pro Charger fitting. I had about a 1/4" to spare between it & the fender well. Transmition will be here Moinday. Next weekend should be more productive.
Gene that is the plan. Hopefully when I'm done I will be saying "I love it when a plan comes together".
