Am I missing something? I got them about an inch apart and now they wont budge. Do I just need to pry harder? I didnt dare go much harder with the crowbar cause I was worried I would break something. I have a 302 and c4
Have you removed the 2 bolts that are near the fly wheel inspection plate. Bolts are below the starter and face the opposite side of your transmission to engine bolts at the bottom.
Should be the 2 bolts on the starter. 6 on the bellhousing and 4 holding the converter to the flexplate. I assume you have already disconnected the vacuum lines, cooler lines, linkage, mount and removed the driveshaft.
aha - so I see there are 4 bolts in there connecting the flywheel to the torque converter? I managed to get 3 of them off but the 4th is of course on the bottom, which is on the ground. Ill get her though - thanks for the help guys
+1 after finding out it is sitting on the ground I am assuming that he did not take off the inspection plate before he set it on the ground so even if he took the torq converter off he would not be able to get the tranny and motor seperated.
I have pulled a tranny apart from the engine without removing the torque converter bolts but it was several years ago. The 351C 4V was locked up due to a broken camshaft. I did of course pull the bolts for the spacer. What a pain it was getting them apart though. clint
