this is just one on many questions i will be asking. but anyway. my tranny leaks. not all the time only when i stomp on it. you know really stomp in it. it pours out fluid just for about 2 secs then stops, and then it doesnt even do it every time. fluid gets all over my exhaust makes a big nasty smoke cloud. i was wondering if anyone would know why it does this and how i might go about fixing it

do you know if it leaks from the front, back or possibly from where the dipstick tube connects to the transmission?

actually it leaks right about the mid section of the car. its so hard to tell. cause everything is so crunched together but its on the rear bumper side of the filter pan. its right where the 2 exhaust pipes come the closest so i cant really see anything. and of course since its not a constant leak by the time the smoke clears most all of the fluid is burnt off. this isnt the tranny off my car ( not that bold yet. ) but is the kind i have and this is about the area where the leak comes from

Have seen this prob before, it could be that there is too much fluid in the trans and when you romp on it, the excess is being puked out the little vent cap on the top of the tailshaft housing. As the internals slow down to normal rpm's, the fluid is not being "tossed" around as much. If you can, clean the area with a spray carb cleaner or the like and then start the process to finding the leak again. Messy work but may help your prob's. good luck and let us know.

    trans ???

Vent at top of trans if putting out fluid. Check your level with the car level and the trans warm.

I had the same problem in my '75 Mav. I could see it leaking dfrom a little vent and couldn't figure out why. I checked the fluid while it was warm and level and was ok, but when i changed the fluid i found a small spring on the ground and wasnt sure if from my trann but now it has crapped out guess it was.

correct me if I am wrong but isn't that a c5 trans????
The C4s I have seen have the sevo on the other side toward the bell housing and do not have any Electronic cables. DOes have the small bellhousing though.

The cable you see is fron the neutral / backup light switch which just bolts on the side there. Dont have a clue about the servo. I know as much about automatics as I know abiout women.

    trans ???

C-4, looks like a pan fill and not a case fill trans. Servo is right and should have a letter on it to tell which one it is. About 5 different ones for shifting pressure. Cable is for the electric arm switch on the shifter arm. It's for netraul safety and start plus backup lights. Some have it one the trans, some on the shifter itself.
