:( so i am really really worried...it rained here last night. I woke up this morning and there was water all over the floor of my car.
i thought it came through the doors. I have no weather stripping there.
Then i found out it was coming through my dash, and dripping on to the brake pedal. :( how can i fix this...what is causing it...i cant find where its coming from.

cowl vent - where the air comes in from the outside for the ac and heat vents. If it's a non-A/C car then there's on on each side, otherwise just the passenger side. To test it, pour a bucket of water into the cowl vent (the vented area between the hood and windshield. It it leaks, it probably rusted out. If not, then pour water all over the windshield and see if the gasket is leaking.

don't just dump a bucket in there because you will flood it and it will leak just spray water with a hose (as if it was raining) and make sure you have the flaps closed and see where it leaks no more leaks :naughty:

Is it on both sides? Mine leakes only on the drivers side so I crawled under my dash to get a better look at them they looked just fine so I took a 5 gallon bucket and dumped it in the cowl, no leak inside.
Turns out the water was running in through the windshield, the gasket around the windshield shrunk leaving a 1" gap at the bottom of the windshield where the water runs in.

It's a simple test...poor water in the cowl, look under the dash while doing so, if it doesn't leak there, put water at the windshield slowly working the way from bottom to top until you see water leaking in. Odds are it is the cowl. If extremely lucky, it will be the windshield.
There are NO easy fixes if the cowl is rusted out. :(

    cowl cover leaks

Of course the best repair is to take apart the cowl and fix the internal cowl hats, but for a quick fix you can check out the magnetic cowl covers on ebay to fit mavericks or Comets 71 thru 77. they cover the vents. will keep out most or all the water. if you use them while driving they will not blow off , but you shoould or must open windows to ensure air in car . You might want to remove the wiper arms and put a bead of silicone on cowl around the wiper arm shaft. I've made them for Mustangs for 7 years and the really help out a lot. even when you fix your cowl , why flood it with water whenever you wash the car. just dont leave them on in the sun as they might eventually stick too tightly to car especially if you have fresh paint, put them on for water, take them off in the sun , no problems:thumbs2:
