What's the trick to getting the pump and bracket to let go of eachother? I have everything but the pulley loose, but the mounting bolts just hit the pulley and keep me from getting it out and heading to NAPA. Can't find my puller to remove the pulley.

bring the whole assembly and they should be able to move the bracket and pulley over for you...

power stearing pullys require a specific puller. it uses clam shells that clamp around the hub of the pully. did you use a 2 or 3 jaw puller?

I only had a two jaw so I had to go around the outside of the pulley.

If you getting a new pump...leave the stub on the shaft.A new pully is pretty cheap, your local parts store should have it.Might want to have em install the new one for you.You can do it yourself with the proper size bolt and nut along with a few big washers to but up to the pully snout.Dont use a hammer or a press...you will wreck the pump.

most new pumps come with a bolt, nut and washer to install the pully with. the pully might come with that stuff also. its easy to install with that stuff. most autoparts stores will rent the power stearing pully puller for cheap. it also has a installer in that kit.

My dad managed to get the pulley off while I was at work and he thinks he can fix it (He's much better with a brazing rod than I am). So, I gotta get a pump and a brazing rod while I'm out gun shopping tomorrow and I'll be able to give him the keys to his F150 back.
