Hello all. I am new here but am hoping to learn from the Wisdom of everyone when it comes to Mavs... When I was Younger I remember an old 71' Grabber that my dad had and when looking for a "New" car, I happened to find a 70 Maverick. It is Firemist Green with a grabber Hood/trunk on it(with an after market spoiler that I can't stand, but hey, it wouldn't be a good car if it wasn't a rolling Project.) I hope to have some pics up of it soon in the state it's in upon aquiring it, and with improvements over time, but though I grew up around classic custom cars(my parents did custom Uhpolstery for 30 years, I am still a little new to Mavericks. I JUST purchased it(the price was right we'll say, I'm happy with it) and have yet to really do a hardcore breaktown of the specs, but It has a 200 CuI v6(not the grabber v8, but I can always change that...) VERY minimum rust(only rust I've seen is the inside bottom of the driver door on the Hindge side, and if I'm not mistaken, thats fairly common in 70 mavs for some reason) Looks BEAUTIFUL, with a few miner dings which have all been "bandaged" so they didn't rust. '66 Mustang Seats in it and a Black on black Interior(Any/All replacement parts/restored parts have been ordered from a Maverick/Comet/Ford Classic Catalog. It has all the original Logos, etc etc. There are a few things that I want to do to it... and Will post under the Tech section on ideas of how to best go about doing this. Hope to hear some great ideas/feedback from those that have overcome certian Hurdles before me. Thanks, ~Shaun P.S. I noticed there are ALOT of people From Kentucky here which is Awesome. Hopefully once I do my prelim tests and all I can maybe get it out to a meet up or two...
glad to have you on the board, and yes you are lucky to be in ky. there seems to be quite a few there ,and people with parts. best of luck.
i rember that car sweet the car is going to a good home was it a kid & did he want a honda ha ha ha WELCOME from ca
Actually... No. He had got it 3 years ago and it had the Spoiler on it when he got it. but He was restoring it, which I plan to do. It doesn't look THAT bad in person, but I think that if you have a classic, you should keep it a classic. He was restoring it via a Mave/ford catalog to, it's got a backseat from a 4 door mav, and 2 '66 mustang bucket seats with the original style double seatbelts. It'll be a rolling project but it will be fun. P.S. He sold it because he needed the money for the down payment on his new home, and I got it for a good price because he knew I would finish restoring it eventually(once I get some money again, lol) Off to work.
