Probably 2/3 of the members on here have made 2 posts or less. My guess is way more than half of the active members are "budget minded" and would not spent the money for quality reproduction parts. Ask Chuck how the valve cover experience went, or Joe how the battery tray went. There is not enough support for reproduction parts.

Yup... you can only make money if you got enough people to actually buy the stuff.
And at that, you have to have so many up front for even a run to be reasonable priced.

I agree with Dennis and Andy...and we presently have 12,374 members. Not sure where you got that number from.

I know a guy that has connections with a company in China that can make tooling or molds for many of the pot metal type trim items with chrome plating for vintage cars.

Have heard that the cost of each die or mold, starts at $50,000. The minimum commitment is 5000 pieces.

Bear in mind, that would be 5000 rights and 5000 lefts if someone wanted to do the front turn signal bezels.

That is a big cash outlay and a big commitment. It would take years to sell out.

It makes me sick every time I go to buy anything these days and it says "made in China". I was shopping with the wife Friday buying our oldest daughter a birthday present and found clothing, on the rack, in SEARS, that was VERY reasonably priced and it said "MADE IN THE USA". I just about SQUEALED. And I know if I had, standing in the Misses department, things would not have gone well! I would have lost my Craftsman Card and worse yet, my MAN CARD!

I will NEVER KNOWINGLY install "made in China" parts on my VERY AMERICAN MAVERICK.

And after these bailouts to GM and to Chrysler, there will only be new FORDS in my driveway. Provided I can ever afford to buy a new car again.

    Sorry for the THREADJCK!

Maybe we need to do a poll on what everyone would like to see, that way people would BUY it, knowing alot of people want that specific item..

The only thing i can think of that would make a profit. Would be if someone found a way to stamp steel grabber hoods at an affordable selling price. Since theyre the #1 maverick item in demand.

Eh i look at the item to see how its built. Ive bought a bunch of made in USA stuff that turned out to be crap. l even found factory metric bolts in my mav before i dont know how that happened...

Not necessarily cheap, but more of "realists"

Not a lot of people want to spend $10k to restore a car that isn't worth but about $3-$5k on a great day
