Okay, I wasn't sure if this would be better put in the Technical forum, but I figured that I might get more responses here. Anyways, I've been wondering if the hood scoops on my 71 Grabber can be made to actually be functional? Because right now, the cross-hatched nets set into the scoops are fake. So I'd appreciate any info. Thanx

Thomas Hackman did just that. Here is his set up.

David, it can be done with some fabrication, a little more than just drilling out in the scoops themselves. Here is a picture from Thomas Hackman who is the master fabricator around here. :)

Dennis, looks like we were both typing at the same time, at least posted two different shots of the hood. :)

I wouldn't even mess with it man. The airflow on that area of the hood is minimal, you will get a very tiny power gain, if you even notice one at all. Plus, when it rains, there's a chance of getting water in there. That's just my two cents on the issue. What I'm going to do is rig up twin ducts sort of like the old thunderbolts had, and run them to the front of the car, where the airflow is like 10 times higher. Then you'd see a significant power gain.
