most engine rebuilders suggest to get it up to 2k rpm for 20min the first time you fire it off. dont know if that motor is fresh or not, but if so you may want to do that before running it too many times? sounds good though, ought to be a kick to drive!
thats much better with the headers on it you had me freakin out before without the headers and it sounds great.it should kick a$$.
ho yeah it's much better now !!!!!!!! I will do that!!! The engine is not rebuilt just the heads with new lash caps that's it!!!!
Yeah, if you are running the same cam and lifters, and just swapped heads and other parts, you don't need the 20 minute breakin. That is just to get the lifters to "lap" to the cam. But if you have roller lifters, you still don't need to do it. Good thing too. It is one of the most stressful 20 minutes of your life. It has to start up pretty quickly, and go straight to 2000 and alternate rpms periodically but keeping them up a bit. When I did mine, I accidentally left a couple pieces of paper towel in the intake holes in the heads (to keep crud out of them while I did the work) so I had all kinds of flaming paper coming out for the first few seconds!!! Just like your first startup...I would have liked to see THAT at night...
yep that and making sure the assembly lube is cleared out of the bearing surfaces for the next time you start it (which happens within the first couple mins). sounds like you didnt need it so dial it in and ride that bad boy around! LMAO!!!! cant say i haven't had a few things happen too, but still funny
