After I did the 3G alternator upgrade everything was ok. Then just a few days ago (2 weeks after install) there is some noise coming I think from the alternator belt. Its sometimes gone but as soon as there is a load on the engine I hear it. If I turn on the AC or if the electric fan kicks on.

I don't think the v-belt is going to cut it any longer.

junk yard sounds real good right now . . . with the tranny upgrade that we still have coming up and the hours and hours of work that we are gonna spend figuring out the electrical problems . . .

PS: (with "we", I meant "you")

Are you dead sure the pulley's are aligned right? Sometimes it is just the belt itself too. My power steering belt was screaming since about a week after I'd changed one that was loose, put a new one on the other day and the noise is gone now that it's broken in.

you know the belt is kinda worn, so good point, I should replace it. I pulled it pretty tight but I'll try tightening it some more. The alternator initially was out of alignment and now it's aligned as best as it'll go. to my eyes it's straight.

Did you run it with it out of alignment at all? The last belt I did that to was junk after the fact, and that was a matter of one washer on the wrong side of a bracket. It doesn't take much.

    Problem solved!!
I tried everything I could to tighten up the belt but it wouldn't tighten. Went to the store, got one size smaller and it tightened up real well, now no more of that crazy hollering and whissling.
