My 351 Cleveland has been gone for 1 year and 4 months but today I finally got to go and bring it home. It morphed itself into 393 cubes while it was gone. Don't know how that happened. It must explain it somewhere in the 4 page bill I paid today. I guess it will be jelly samiches for a while but it was worth it.

Thanks to everyone for the Me and this engine go back 27 years together. I bought this 72 Gran Torino Sport, 351C - 4 speed and "N" case 9 inch rear from my brother in 1982. I drove it for 4 years until the body rotted off the frame. No one made replacement parts for a 72 yet so I took the hood, engine, trans and center section out and scrapped the rest. I first rebuilt the 351 back in 92 to stock specs, put it in the Maverick with Tubular Automotive headers and then lost interest. 4 years ago I finally built my garage and brought the Maverick in for total restoration. It turned out that some of my "sealing up" of the 351 came apart and rain water got in and filled the pan up right up to the pistons with water. I thought that was the end of it until I took the block to S & S Speed Center in Kingston, Pa. They had the block tumbled using some kind of soft medien and it came out shiny black and was saved with a .030 over bore. It turned out that I did need rods and a crank so the rest was a no brainer. I did swap out my original open heads for the closed set. So now that very same 351C - 4 speed and "N" case center section all goes in the Maverick to ride again.
Thats a great car story. I love the look of Clevelands. The just look so big and nasty. One big mean air/fuel machine. Hey that rhymes. How dorky is that. Cant wait to see it in the chassis.
Damn nice engine, and great story! I remember when you posted pics a while back of the bottom end all crusted up. Glad to hear it was salvageable.
