I know that, without a doubt, you can't go wrong buying an MSD distributor but has anyone bought one of the cheaper Pro Comp knock offs?

I think that they're Aussie built but I know nothing about them. I was wondering about the quality and if anyone ran one for a long period of time so that we can determine how they well they last?

The procomp is just a name that use be an Australian company. They got bought out by a chinese import company from california and most of the distributors they put out is a chinese knockoff of a Jacobsons DUI that use to be made in Midland TX which sadly is now owned by a Chinese import company that dropped the jacobson from the name and uses the DUI part

Here is a website link to Procomp Electronics

    http://www.procompelectronics.com/

    here is a D.U.I link

    http://www.performancedistributors.com/

if you look the only difference between the procomp and the performance distributors is the stickers on the side and the tops. If you buy them its up to you some people have had good luck with them, some have had horrible luck............. And for some of us it boils down to something as simple as being made in the US or being made in China.

    Dstrbutor Question

I am currently running the Pro-Comp on my 1971 maverick Grabber wth no problems. been on there for a year. just as good as mallory or msd and a heck of a lot cheaper. anything is better than points!

You can't go wrong with a good ole USA made Duraspark either. Or a Points distributor fitted with an electronic module.

x2! Seriously theres so much info on the duraspark swap. And its easy! Even i did it. And junkyards usually have some almost new parts. The swap on the falcons engine was $20 for the dizzy, module, and harness :)
