Alright, so im wanting to convert my 1970 maverick to disc brakes. I found a guy who will sell me what i need from a 1975 Maverick for $75, im pretty sure they should switch right over ( i wouldnt need the tie rods right?) iv'e read a lot of old posts and the how to article, but I have no knowledge of brakes at all, and dont wanna spend all day in the guys backyard, cursin a storm trying to pull off what i need. So my question is how do i pull what i would need off? Is it just gonna be one big assembly behind the wheel (that includes the spindle, calipers, rotors, master cylinder, proportioning valve, lines and brackets) or do the pices come off seperatly and scatterd about? like i said i have no clue about brakes. any info or links to a how-to or video would be appericiated.

The easiest way is with a torch. The only other way is to pop the ball joints loose, then the tie rod ends, then the brake lines. All can be somewhat difficult to do without the right tools.

If the car has been sitting a while,I would not use the calipers. You can buy them at your local parts store. You can also buy the rotors at your parts store if they are bad. The only parts you diffentely need is the spindles. You can use your valve, master cylinder and lines. If the last hose link is in good shape grap them.

The early cars are the ones who need them when doing a disk swap. Like my steering is from a 73. But the 73 tie rods didnt work with my disk brakes i had to use the 75 ones.
