Hello Everyone, I have just purchased my second 1970 Maverick. The first one was purchased in 1973. Well..............I just got my second one yesterday and can't wait to get her to the drag strip. The car has been a purpose built drag car since 72/73 and was raced at the 79 Winternationals in Pomona. She has a 302 block with Roush/Yates Boss 302 heads and all Probe internal parts. It runs a 4:56 9" with spool and 2spd Powerglide. With throttle stop it runs 10.5's at around 127 and without the throttle stop high 9's at around 134 in the 1/4. I drag raced SS cars back in the 70's/80's and got out of it when electronics started driving the cars and it got expensive to be competitive. Now that I am old I just want to go out and have some fun at our local strip and maybe do some Nostalgia races. Since I live only 20 minutes from our local strip I will found there often.
