Hi everyone, My name is Roger and I live in Tucson Arizona. I haven't posted here since joining a few months ago because I sort of felt like a kid-in-a-new-school, around guys much more knowledgeable than me. I will do my best to join in more. A little about me: I love Mavericks, and am passionate about them, like the rest of you. I personally believe cars like the Mavericks and Comets represent what America is all about: style and freedom. For now, I am working on collecting parts for a restoration of a 1972 Maverick Grabber. My goal is to hopefully have enough parts to begin within the next few years. I plan on doing some of the restoration with my 10 year old son in the summers. I have owned two previous Mavericks before. My first Maverick was a 1972 2-door Maverick, with the dark-green (pine green metallic?) exterior, and black interior. It had a six cyl engine, with cloth bench seats. I lived in Illinois (I am originally from IL) and the car was in mint condition when I bought it. No rust, and the interior was in perfect condition. My next Maverick was a 1973 Maverick Grabber. I had also bought this car in Illinois back in the late 80's. The 73' Mav had the factory White with Orange Grabber stripes. This car was close to mint condition at the time, with a very nice interior, but with some rust on the quarter panels. I was amazed at how nice all the orange stuff on the interior looked, for being 15 years old at the time. The engine on the 73' Mav was also a six cyl. I sold both cars back in Illinois in the late 80's, and have not owned one again until earlier this year when I purchased the 72' Grabber, here in Arizona. I have noticed that many of the members here and on the Mav/Comet forums are flat out experts on these cars, and I am amazed at the quality of the posts, and restoration work that is being done. I am not as knowledgeable as the rest of you on here, but I appreciate all the great posts, and am learning as much as I can for my project. I used know the cars more in my younger days, when I had tons of junk yards to play in. I am good with electrical and electronic issues; that is my specialty. I don't profess to be an expert on Maverick/Comet electrical systems, but I guess I could be considered an expert with electrical and electronics troubleshooting in general. So if anyone has any electrical or electronic problems that are stumping them, let me know, and I will do my best to help. So anyway...nice to meet all of you fellow Maverick and Comet enthusiasts.
I too just bought one of these cars from my youth, boy does it bring back memories and I have only driven it about 100 miles so far.

Hey, thanks Roger. Your 71 Grabber looks like it has the same color scheme as my 72 Grabber that I am restoring! Oh, and I love Florida. I used to hang out on New Smyrna Beach in the summers of my youth...ahhhh...the good ole days. - Roger
from Northeast Pennsylvania I visited Arizona 2 years ago. Drove through Bullhead City, Searchlight, Oatman then up to Kingman. A little bit of old Route 66.
