I have a 73 that was a factory 6 ... we have since put in a mild 302 with a c4 trans. The rear end is way to slow for my liking . I was told that an explorer rear would go into a maverick with few problems is this true or what would you guys suggest?

You can't put an 8.8" gear in a 8" housing

HI if your willing to do some cutting and welding,it`s ok.But check out a powertrax type posi.It fits into your carrier and then some gears.I whent with a 9in from strange it came on a skid ready to bolt in.I had to add my own posi and gear but it went in easy.

If you got a junkyard with old cars then most any 8" center section will swap over. Use your axles, brakes and housing. Check the ratio before yoy buy

I thought all the '73's had 8"? The integral gear was 7.5

    Edit>> might be 7.25"
