Lets end this: Do you want a car that accellerates faster, or a car that's got a higher top speed ? What are you willing to spend ? How much fabrication are you willing to do ? There are a few choices to choose from, what you need to specify is exactly what you want to spend and what you want as an end result.

For faster accelleration you need a lower gear ratio...for top end you need a higher gear ratio. The lower the number the higher the ratio...the higher the number the lower the ratio. A 2.79 is a high ratio...a 4.11 is a lower ratio.

If You have a 7.5" rear get an 8".An 8" from a 67-68 mustang, granadas and monarch's,will fit.A good "middle of the road"gear would be a 3.55 gear.Good off the line and decent down the highway.
