It's really not that hard.If You have everything ready to go when You start, tools, all the required pcs./parts,ect.A good weekend of wrenching and You should be back on the road.If You've never done one before, have someone who has, there with You,to walk/guide You through it.Nothing like the feeling of knowing You did it Yourself, when You fire it up,and take it around the blockGood luck if You decide to try it! PS Have a fire extinguisher and a phone nearby...You never know.
Engine mounts are different, engine is taller so exhaust won't line up, trans bell housing is different.... If you get everything from a donor car, it's easy.
hmmm think about it before you do it If you are going through the trouble of making the change my advice would be do the v8 swap. Wth the 200 to 250 you have to come up with just as many different parts as you would with the v8 such as exhaust, bell housing, and flex plate. If you worried about mpg you will get better with a 302 roller than a 250 six.
Yes! You are correct, I just thought of the bigger things, I forgot about all the little things that go along with it. I have gone from the 200/3 speed, to the 250/auto, now to a late model roller 302/auto.
Changing from one engine, that came stock in a Maverick/Comet, to a different one that also came stock isn't that hard as long as you collect all of the matching parts to do the swap as has been mentioned. Now swaping over to a completely different engine that never came stock in a Maverick is a completely different story
